Los Ninos Primero
Thursday and Friday 10:00-1:00
The Los Niños Primero program provides Latino children, ages 3 to 5, from the South Madison area with developmentally and culturally appropriate preparation for Kindergarten and long-term academic success with quality, research-based early childhood education and family support. The objective is to prepare each child with the confidence and skills to succeed in school and in life by focusing on:
* school readiness
* second language acquisition
* cultural appreciation
* family education & involvement

We strive to build on our families' home language and culture to help their children succeed. While LNP is conducted mostly in Spanish, English vocabulary is incorporated as well, to assist children in their transition to kindergarten.

Parents and grandparents are their children's first teachers!
Caregivers should be empowered by access to resources and information to make the decisions necessary for the life-long success of their children. Caregivers will acquire:
* knowledge of child development
* understanding of their role as child's first and best teacher
* increased interest in child's education
* understanding of Kindergarten programs
* familiarity with community resources - Public Libraries, Health Services, other resources, etc.
