Youth Worker needed to work in Bridge Lake Point Waunona Neighborhood Center’s Youth After-School Program which provides approximately 28 elementary aged youth with educational and recreational programming every day after school. Youth workers work closely with lead program staff to plan and implement program activities, supervise participants and have an opportunity to be a positive influence in the lives of youth.
Assist with the planning and coordination of Elementary age tutoring program.
Assist with the planning and coordination of Elementary age after-school program.
Provide hands on assistance in the areas of homework, literacy and recreation clubs
Lead groups of 10-12 youth on a weekly basis.
Provide active supervision and ensure safety of all program participants at all times.
Demonstrate enthusiasm and a strong work ethic.
Maintain communication between, parents, classroom teachers and staff daily.
Maintain records including attendance, data reports, and behavior records.
Attend mandatory staff meetings and mandatory trainings.
Assist with opening/closing procedures each day including room set-up and maintaining daily schedules.
Serve as a positive role model for elementary age youth.
Conduct should be respectful, and emphasize apropriate positive values.
Experience working with elementary aged youth in the areas of academic tutoring and mentoring.
Experience in programming focused on healthy pro-social youth development.
Ability to plan dynamic, positive, engaging curriculum rooted in youth and community assets.
Comfort and sound judgment in addressing issues of sexuality, physical development, healthy relationships and numerous other topics with youth and families.
Ability to maintain an orderly, positive, productive and respectful environment for youth at all times.
Willingness to work as part of team.
Willingness to work a flexible schedule including occasional weekend hours for fieldtrips and special events.
Bilingual (Spanish/English) candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.
Must be at least 21 years old. This position requires driving 15 passenger vans which requires the candidate to be at least 21 years old.
Average Schedule: Monday 12:30-5:30, Tuesday-Friday 2:30-5:30 Compensation: Estimated 12-18 hours per week at wage of $12.85 an hour.

2017 BLW/PASS AmeriCorps Summer - 300 Hour Slot
Start date: June 12, 2017
End Date: August 31, 2017
Weekly Schedule: Members will have 12 weeks of time. 300/12 = 25 hours per week schedule.
Benefits Living allowance = $2520 over 5 pay periods is $504 pre tax. First paycheck issued on 7/7. Education Award is $1221.96 Gear—Members will get 2 t-shirts and a pin Loan Forbearance—reduced slot members are eligible for loan forbearance
To be 17 (17 year-olds require parent consent), and;
Have their high school diploma or equivalency OR will work to obtain a high school diploma, GED, or HSED during their term of service AND obtain a high school diploma, GED, or HSED prior to using their education award AND have not dropped out of elementary or secondary school in order to enroll as an AmeriCorps member.
Application--Applicants must complete a 300 hour PASS application. If under 17, a real signature must be secured by the applicant and parent. Electronic signatures will not be accepted.

Citizenship Documentation: Must bring citizenship documentation (i.e. birth certificate) to orientation on June 12. Applicants cannot be enrolled and log hours prior to citizenship verification.
Work plans & evaluations—Work plans and mid-term evaluations are NOT required. End of Term evaluations are required.
